Stage 4 Language shapes our understanding of ourselves and our world, and is the primary means by which we relate to others. The structure of the Stage 4 course encompasses the foundations of linguistic knowledge required for the pursuit of excellence in the learning and application of English literature and language in its various forms. Students are encouraged to experiment with the various modes of learning and develop their skills as English students.
Stage 5 Through responding to and composing texts, students learn about the power, value and art of the English language for communication, knowledge and pleasure. Stage 5 English challenges students to ‘think outside the box’ and encourages them to engage in a variety of texts and forms. Stage 5 is structured to nurture further development of understanding and stimulate students thinking about the world in which they live through the close study of both fiction and non-fiction texts.
Stage 6 Stage 6 encourages students to explore, critically evaluate and appreciate a wide variety of the texts of Australian and other societies, in various forms and media, including multimedia.
